Danny finished off his 2018 season in style by capturing his sixth European Tour Ttile at the Earth Course, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai. After posting consecutive rounds of 67 on Thursday and Friday, The 2016 Masters champion added a further sub par 68 to be tied at the top of the leaderboard with current Masters Champion, Patrick Reed.
Danny got off to a fast start after an Eagle on the Par five second hole moved him two shots clear of the chasing pack. A birdie on the seventh hole maintained that two shot cushion going into the back nine. However, bogies at the tenth and twelth put Danny into a tie for the lead with fellow Englishman Matt Wallace on fifteen under par, with Reed just one shot back. Birdies at fourteen and fifteen moved Danny back into the lead on his own with just three holes remaining. After the final pairing made Par's on the sixteenth hole, Danny produced arguably the shot of the tournament on the Par three Seventeenth hole, where he knocked his Six iron to just Six feet and made a birdie which gave him a two shot lead playing the last. There was a nervy end to the round as Danny very nearly put his tee shot into the creek, getting a huge slice of luck to find the ball playable from the rocks. He was to make a solid par giving him a two shot victory and final score of 18 under Par.
An emotional Danny embraced his famiily and friends on the green and this meant the 493 day wait, since his last victory at Augusta was over and gave him the perfect ending to his 2018 season.
